Robert David Nicholson


Moss Bluff- Robert David Nicholson, 72, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2013 in the VA Hospital of Shreveport, LA surrounded by his family.


David was born November 19, 1940 to Raymond Louis Hellings and Grace Marie (Roberts) Hellings in St. Marks, Florida. He was drafted into the Army in 1966 and proudly served his country for 2 years. David loved deer hunting, tending to his garden, yard work and spending time with his family. He was a carpenter and a member of Carpenter’s Local 953. David built many homes in Moss Bluff. Riding in horse shows and raising quarter horses were among some of his favorite things. He was a member of the Bronco Riding Club of Moss Bluff, the Westlake Riders Club and Horseman Riders Club of Lake Charles. He worked hard all of his life to provide for his family.


David is survived by his wife of 44 years, Phyllis (Leger) Nicholson; son, Robert D. Nicholson, II and wife, Krystal of Deweyville, Texas; daughter, Shellie Marie (Nicholson) Darbonne and husband, Robert of Moss Bluff, LA; brother, Ira Raymond Nicholson and wife, Jackie of New Jersey; sisters, Nilah R. Mashburn and Carla J. Jones and husband, Dennis all of Florida and 7 wonderful grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Alexis Faith Mallett and brother, Charles George Hellings.


Funeral services will be Monday, March 4, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home with Father Roland Vaughn officiating. Burial will be in Lacassine Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. in the funeral home with a scripture and rosary service at 6:30 p.m. and continue Monday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Lorenza Mary Savant


Iowa – Lorenza Mary Savant, 83, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2013 in a local care center.

Lorenza was born September 7, 1929 in Kinder to Noah and Lilly Guillory. She was a homemaker. Her greatest joys were her children and grandchildren. She was a living example of Proverbs 31, “Her children rise up and call her blessed.”

She is survived by her sons, Randol Savant, Ken Savant and wife, Denise and Jason Savant and wife, Codi, all of Iowa, LA; daughters, Paula Roussell and husband, Ronnie of Iowa, LA and Andra Whitfield of Lake Charles; 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Her husband, Anderson Savant, parents, 2 sisters and 2 brothers preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 21, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home with Rev. John Huckaby officiating. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. in the funeral home.


Margaret Ann Daley

Iowa – Margaret Ann Daley, 53, passed away in a local hospital February 11, 2013 in a local hospital.

A gathering of friends and family is today, Saturday, February 16, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Cremation will be under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa.
