Timothy Edward Morgan

 

Timothy Edward Morgan, 55, of Ceres, CA passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Doctors Hospital in California. He was born October 14, 1956 in Lake Charles, LA. He graduated from Barbe High School and Sheet Metal Worker’s Local 196. Tim moved to Ceres, CA in 1989 and worked most of his life as a skilled sheet metal worker and HVAC Estimator. Tim loved hunting and fishing. He was a member of E Clampus Vitus.

He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Shelly Morgan-South and husband, Kipp and Jessica Morgan, all of Modesto, CA; two brothers, Richard Morgan and wife, Sandy of Westlake, Patrick Morgan and wife, Kathy of Iowa; four sisters, Judy Moss Burger and husband, Frank of Spring, TX, Bambi Hebert of Lake Charles, Susan Myer of Lacassine and Rose Morgan of DeRidder.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Virginia Morgan and his brother, David.

His celebration of life was held in Ceres, CA on July 6, 2013

Zach Manuel

 

Iowa-Zachery David Manuel, 25, passed away in Lake Charles on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 as the result of a motorcycle accident.

Zach was born in Kinder on March 15, 1988 to David and Marlene Holland Manuel. Zach was a graduate of Iowa High School, class of 2006. He was employed at PPG as a packer. Hot rods and motorcycles were things he enjoyed doing. He loved spending time with his kids, friends and family and especially his fiancé. Zach was a loyal son and friend.

He is survived by his parents, David and Marlene Manuel; son, Kayden Allen Manuel; daughter, Ashlynn Jayd Vita; fiancé, Megan Reeves; brother, Casey Manuel and grandparents, Morris and Shirley Holland, all of Iowa; extended family, Sam Reeves, Tonda Anderson and Cody Reeves. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Allen and Gladys Manuel.

Funeral services will be in Water’s Edge, located at 2790 Power Centre Parkway, Lake Charles, on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. Dee Spears and Rev. Tony Bourque officiating. Burial will follow in Camp Pearl Cemetery in Topsy under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home. Visitation is in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home beginning Friday, June 28, 2013 from 4:00-9:00 p.m. and will continue Saturday in Water’s Edge from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m.

Bettie A. Johnson

Bundick Lake-Bettie A. Johnson, 70, formerly of Woodlawn, passed away in a local hospital Wednesday, June 26, 2013.

Bettie was born in Woodlawn on July 16, 1942 to Archille and Myrtle Cummings Miller. In her early years, Bettie attended St. Raphael Catholic Church. She and her late husband, Horace, owned and operated a convenience store in the Woodlawn area for many years. Bettie loved gardening, arts & crafts, and fishing at Bundicks Lake. She loved taking care of everyone around her and her grandchildren & great grandchildren were her pride and joy.

Survivors include her sons, Kirk Johnson and wife, Rhonda of Iowa, Horace Lee ‘Bubba” Johnson, Jr., of Bundick Lake; daughter, Kimberly Ann “Kim” Wilson and husband, Mike of Ohio; sister, Ruth Witherwax and husband, Burton of Woodlawn; 8 grandchildren, Clarissa (Daniel) Rougeau, Jessica (Lawson) Reeves, Jeremy (Michelle) Cooper, Amirea Chambers, Claire and Caleb Johnson, Troy and Trevor Allen; 15 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Horace Johnson; daughter, Belinda Castleberry; sisters, Lillian Broussard, Sylvia Guillory; brothers, Eddie, Clarence, Albert, Bert and DeWitt Corbello.

Funeral services will be in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home Monday, July 1, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Bennie Wego officiating. Burial will follow in Lacassine Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. and continue Monday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service.

 

Grady J. “Beco” Guillory, Sr.

Iowa-Grady J. “Beco” Guillory, Sr., 78, passed away in a local hospital on Saturday, June 22, 2013 surrounded by his loving family.

“Beco” was born March 11, 1935 to Yourick and Elia Soileau Guillory in Pine Island, LA. He was married to Mary Jane Trahan on November 26, 1955. Beco was employed as a carpenter with the Local 953. He enjoyed working in his garden and yard, as well as cooking for his neighbors in his outdoor kitchen. Beco loved sharing vegetables with his friends and family.

Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Mary Jane Guillory of Iowa; son, Grady J. Guillory, Jr. of Welsh; daughters, Faye Soileau and husband, Buddy of Lake Charles and Cindy Guidry of Deer Park, TX; sister, Fern Godeaux and husband, Hubert of Vinton, LA; 5 grandchildren, Desira, Lacie, Mandy, Alex and Courtlin; and 9 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, Melvin, John, Harry and Lesby; and 6 sisters, Florence, Mabel, Beulah, Emma, Gladys and Rena.

Funeral services will be in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Roland Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow in Hecker Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. and continue Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service.


Mattie Marie Pullam 


Welsh-Mattie Marie Pullam, infant, passed away in a local hospital on Tuesday, June 11, 2013. Mattie was born on June 4, 2013 to Matthew Pullam and Dentrisha Le’Naye White. 

She is survived by her parents; brothers, Maqui White and Matthew Pullam, Jr.; sisters, D’Nia Pullam and Naija Mayo.

Graveside services are Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in Bon Pasture Cemetery of Welsh.


Annabelle Hebert Denison

Iowa-Annabelle Hebert Denison, 92, passed away in a local hospital Thursday, June 6, 2013.
 

Annabelle was born in Hecker on November 27, 1920 to Fred and Emma Buller Hebert. She graduated as president and salutatorian of the 1938 Iowa High School. Annabelle then married in November of 1938 the late Gordon Earl Denison, a farmer & cattleman, and together they hosted many rice thrashing and cowboy luncheons. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Iowa UMW and the Iowa AARP. Annabelle enjoyed painting. Spending time with her family was one of her favorite things.

She is survived by her son, Fred Denison and wife, Carol Augustine Denison, of Iowa; Sharon Kay Broussard and husband, John “Gumbo” of Iowa; sisters, Evelyn McDonald of Beaumont, TX and Geneva Brewton of Winnfield, LA; 8 grandchildren, Cathy Denison Robert, Carrie Savoy, Carla Cormier, Carmen Denison, Christi Fontenot, Charlotte Adney, Bridgette Jordan and Brian Broussard; 13 great-grandchildren. Annabelle is preceded in death by her spouse, parents, 2 brothers, I. L. Hebert, F. Marvin Hebert and great grandson, Joshua Cormier.

Funeral services will be in First United Methodist Church of Iowa on Sunday, June 9, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. David Dewitt officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home. Visitation will begin Saturday from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home and continue Sunday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service in the church.
